I'm thinking Bose has a lot of competition since this earlier article and relative to the past decade or more.

It's not ANC, but when I saw my AirPods come out of the washer and dryer I figured I'd be rushing to buy more. Much to my surprise they survived!

For other purposes I was totally surprised by the Sony WH-H900N and I think they'll be keepers unless someone can convince me Bose are far superior for a plane trip or overall noise cancellation.

Not ANC, but the B&Ws I have are wonderful and now it appears they have a great noise cancelling set.

Knowing that W1 chip, it would also be nice to know how newer Beats are for just noise cancelling. Some of the reading I've done says good but point to the Bose and top Sony models as best. The proprietary Apple chip sure makes life nice for an iPhone owner.
