In settings>imessage>send and receive, in the "can be reached at" section, I have 2 email addresses but my phone number is gray and doesn't seem active.

In the "start new conversation from" section, I have my phone number checked.

And my phone won't send out or receive messages.

Help, please? :concern:

On an iPhone - it's something that can't be de-selected so it looks to be inactive, but is really active.

Ok, I had all the settings properly, a text message was delivered, but the photo took forever. I tried several times. Now sure enough, they're all showing up at once, lol. I think there may have been a glitch in the software, I just rebooted my phone, I'll see what happens.
Thanks! :D

It's supposed to be grayed out so you can't change it. Uncheck the email addresses. You don't need that unless you plan to iMessage with email.
