Too Many Apps, Not Enough Space, Delete To iCloud

Daily I receive "Apps Gone Free". I will refer to photo apps as an example. It gives me the opportunity to try different photo apps. I may like several different features & want to keep several apps.

There isn't enough room to keep every app. I'll delete, install new app, the deleted apps goes to the Cloud. When I want to use a previously used app, I tap the Cloud & download again.

Is the Cloud basically a storage area allowing me to do this until the next time I want to use a previously used app?

I am a beginner iCloud user.

Yes and no. Deleted apps don't take up any of your iCloud space. They remain linked to your iTunes account so that you can d/l again should you decide to use them.
