TomTom whenever I’m driving (integrated nav system)
Apple Maps when I’m not driving or in someone else’s car and need to get/give directions
Apple Maps is better than it used to be but still doesn’t beat a dedicated GPS: alternates, gas prices, multiple destinations, etc.
I used Apple Maps exclusively for about six months, it’s much better than it used to be. However, I’m back to using Google Maps because Apple Maps still has a lot of catching up to do in terms of locations. There are a number of places I need directions to for work that simply are not in Apple Maps.
I also love the turn reminders from my watch! It really is helpful!
I'm not following the about there for all of us phone and watch software upgrades too closely but without more layers I expect Apple Maps will be fine for a lot of car navigation but not bike/ped and outdoor sports or recreation the way Google Maps is.
At times the simplicity in Apple's offering is good. Apple does not seem to do those occasional Waze type shortcuts that are not at all the best route.
I use maps religiously as I drive all over the country for my job. I used google maps a lot before the iOS 13 beta. Apple has really revamped it & made it a whole lot better compared to how it was previously.
I can't wait to see the new Apple Maps when I install iOS 13 later this week!
It’s incredible. They recently rolled out an updated version of my city. Looks a lot better especially with the look around feature or whatever it’s called.
