Issue with reinstall OS in iMac

What MAcOS version are you trying to install, and what model hardware do you have? The MacOS may not be compatible with the hardware. For example, Mojave won't install on a 2011 iMac. I know, I have one.

I have also had that message and usually means there is a older hardware compatibility issue. My neighbor has an older 2011 iMac and Mojave will not install on the machine.
