Is it possible to screw up iCloud activation lock?

For example have an iCloud locked device and delete your Apple account. What will happen? Or have the phone reset and made some drastic changes to your Apple account. Will the phone fail to sign in to activation lock saying account info is wrong? Is there a flaw like that?

I have to say. Your post is very confusing. There is only 2 ways to remove an activation lock. Knowing the Apple ID and the current password. Or showing proof of purchase to Genius Bar or Apple Care and then they remove it. No other way around it.
