Automatic response to a text message on an iphone

I'm going away on vacation, and I've changed the outgoing message/greeting on my iPhone to let callers know I'll be returning calls later next week. Is there a way to set an auto-response so that any texts I receive are responded to with a similar message?

Natively, there isn't an "auto" response mechanism, however, there is a "Respond With Text" feature that you initiate while receiving a call.

Settings → Phone → Respond With Text.
