how do i delete phone numbers from my contacts list

i have all these people in my contacts list that i have never heard of and i would like to delete them please help me thank you

Welcome to iMore!

Go into Contacts. Tap on the contact you want to delete. When it opens, tap on Edit. When it opens, scroll to bottom and tap Delete Contact.

How did you get a lot of contacts you never heard of? Are they Facebook contacts? Check Settings > Facebook > Toggle Contacts off there.
