Manage Notifications

Is there a way to allow only phone calls (from any phone number) and text messages to make notification sounds? For example, I don't want calendar, emails, other notifications to make sounds.

check Settings >Sounds > set sounds alerts. A tone or None.
Then check Settings >Notifications >set those as you want. Either a tone or None.

Thanks. I have not used an iOS device before, so I have been trying to find out how to accomplish tasks I am used to doing with my current phone.
