How do I delete a picture sent by my friend in chat on snapchat?

My friend recently send me a photo from their photo album in chat (when you swipe to the left of their name) on snapchat. I exited from chat by swiping right and when I got a message back I swiped left to get back into chat and see my message. The message I previously sent had disappeared but the picture still remained. I have tried various things to delete it, such as making sure I didn't save it, deleting my snapchat history, blocking my friend and deleting my friend but still when I go into chat the picture comes up. I have checked my friends phone and the picture has dissapeared from her phone. Can someone please eplain to me how do I delete a picture sent in chat by my friend on snapchat?
