Can setting up a Raid be done inside OS X?

Lightning took out my Drobo box. I'm looking at a 4 bay USB enclosure for the 4 1 TB drives assuming they did not get fried as well. I would like to set it up as a raid. Can that be done inside of OS X or is third party software required. Any insight would be appreciated.
