Why can't I get the podcast to start? it goes back to main view.

When I open Podcasts, initially the app is fullview, then in 2-3 seconds it switches back to displaying all the app's on that page, yet the Podcast app is open. When I select Now Playing, I cannot get the podcast to start and it goes back to main view? I have turned off the device, still no help.
