iTunes not allowing songs from iCloud to download

My iTunes library was doing fine - I was able to listen to all of my music without trouble. But then suddenly I turned on my computer and my entire library was grey and unaccessible. I had to redownload my library from iCloud with about 200 songs missing. The only thing is, it only allowed 1/2 the sounds to download. The rest of the songs are still greyed out - including my option to download them from iCloud. I had many of the files directly on my computer and can't seem to find those either. I'm a little confused, obviously. Where did my library go?
