My battery after being fully charged lasts approximately 8-9 hours with very little use - maybe 4 phone calls. If I use it for messaging, emails or internet, then it can last up to only half that time. I have followed advice on the net with no improvement. When I go into settings, general, usage, battery usage, the 'Time Since Last Full Charge' shows exactly the same amount of time in the Usage box as in the Standby box. I have checked other people's phones and their Usage and Standby show different readings. Is this the problem? The phone is only a couple of weeks old and has never performed well in terms of battery life.

What model phone do you have since it is only a couple weeks old?
I wrote this guide some time ago but would still apply if you try some or all of these things.

Also if this does not work I would have your phone checked by Apple on the offset that it might have a bad battery. Good luck.

Usage the same as standby means either your screen was never turned off for the entire time the phone was off the charger, or you were doing something in the background like listening to music that entire time. I'd try resetting the phone (hold in the power button until you get the prompt to power off) then turn the phone back on again.

You should also check the guide above and make sure you haven't adjusted some setting like how long the screen stays on before going to sleepZ
