Have Parallels with Windows 7.1 on my MacAir - do I need AV for it?

I love my MacAir and also need to run Parallels with Windows 7.1 for the educational software I use for training.
Do I need AV for the windows 7.1 if it is running on my Mac?
If so, which one is best?

I personally use MSE on the Windows side, but you technically don't need any AV if the VM is not connected to the Internet.
