I'm using a galaxy s3 and I figure I'm due for an update this upcoming fall, which is also my first year I university. I've got an iPad 4 and I think it's great, I've always had an urge to get an iPhone. Although I love my gs3 I feel like the iphone would be much more smooth and simplistic. I'll probably get some sort of mac for university so I'm wondering if you think it's worth going all in on apple? Is it as great as it seems? Thanks!

The answer is a definite YES because everything you do with one will reflect on everything if you set all the IOS devices up to sync and backup to iCloud which having an iPad I am sure you know about. Good luck with your studies when you go to college.

Yes. The Apple ecosystem is "worth it". Apple's software and devices work very well together, and you're right, the iPhone, at least in my opinion, is "more smooth and simplistic", as you put it, as well as elegant and powerful. I think you'll be pleased with one….

You know what, Please don't take this wrong but that is not even funny or cool to start that with a member who essentially told you his young age and don't think he need to be mixed up with it. I am only asking but would you consider deleting your post just out of the right thing to do please. Think about it and do the right thing. Thank you.

What? I was just providing background information as to what kind of situation the products would be used in.

So it’s ok for iMore to talk about porn, but not the members here? I simply linked to the iMore thread on the subject. Either it’s ok or it’s not, right?

I am not going to get started with this again with something that should not have been included in this young mans answer that is it plain and simple. Drop it please.

My final thought/question on the subject: is it or is it not a part of the "iOS ecosystem", in as much as it’s available on/for the iOS devices? I am not looking for a debate or an argument. I am simply asking a question.

To the original question asker, yes, in my opinion, the iOS/OS X ecosystem is worthy of going "all in" on.

iPhone/iPad linking to Mac for iTunes is pretty seemless. You plug it in and pretty much have drag and drop capability. Plugging Android or some other device works well enough via USB and you copy stuff over but having the interface there and ready to go is great. Signing into each device with one account that gives you access to purchases directly is great. Media on iTunes is fairly competitive price wise and Apple is a leader when it comes to securing exclusive content which is great.

I've used just about every combination of OS and device and Apple is definitely the company that has thought about how to make all of it work together out of the box. I simply dream of Chrome OS and Android working as well together as iOS and OS X do. Simply put though, Apple still thinks about doing things locally: you buy your media, you download it, you're all set. Google wants you streaming stuff so you'll stay connected to their ad servers. That's fine and Google Play has a good interface but I still have enough times where I'm out and don't have immediate access to wi-fi and would like to enjoy my content.

I used to use (well still do really) Amazon MP3 for music. That's fine, buy your CDs from Amazon, get the mp3s. Well they don't have everything I want so now I have to upload to their server and redownload on my devices. It's all very awkward to sync and the amount of content I can have in the Cloud is limited. So I end up using my iPod as it's easier to manage my content in iTunes and copy it over (which is quite seemless). I'm sure there are other quality media managers out there for OS X and Windows depending on the devices you use, but with Apple you get it out of the box so why look for something else?

Apple devices tend to be competitive on price as well, outside of Macbooks which have no real low cost alternative but iPads can do most of the basic work that a low-end Macbook would provide so that's all good I suppose.
