ipad mini unable to join network at home

i have a ipad mini that cannot or says unable to join network but it works fine at a mcdonalds wifi spot
I have other devices that work ok at home which is the sumsung galaxy, hp laptop and a chinese made 7inch tablet
my internet is a cable broadband with a netgear wifi modem cdg24n v2 I have no limit on devices
I think it is the modem frequency causing the problem
I guess the ipad mini are only good for is cutting and snorting cocaine off it
