I can honestly say I have never thought about wearing a watch in the shower.
No way. I'm not risking my $700 investment for something so stupid.
My thoughts exactly
Yeah I need to get my wrist clean, so have to take the watch off lol
Not only did Tim Cook say he did, but there are quite a few videos of people testing it in the shower with no issues. Now, I wouldn't wear mine just because I don't like the idea of wearing something in the shower. But it seems like it would be safe to.
Wonder how the metal will hold up over time? Feel like the risk of corrosion from constantly showering would be present.
Tim Cook also probably has a new one for each day so he doesn't have to worry if one gets ruined lol
I agree. Especially with soap and shampoo getting on it.
He wouldn't have said it if it was ruining his watch.
Exactly

You'd hope not lol
Water shouldn't affect the metal. Aluminum doesn't rust and neither does stainless steel.
I've used regular watches with stainless steel cases for many years and never had any corrosion issues from showers or ocean water.
Will I shower with this watch, once I get it? Most likely not. I wouldn't want to take chances with it. If water were to get somehow inside it would be a whole lot more problematic than just letting it dry out for a couple of days, if that is even possible.
That's another reason I wouldn't shower with it on. Risk of water getting in and ruining the internals

I've seen a video of someone showering with it on. I wouldn't do it still. I tested this with a Samsung S5 & ruined it by diving in the pool with it. Let's just say, I had to replace my fiancées phone.

I won't shower with my watch on. Besides the risk of damage I really don't have the need the shower with it. I don't see myself trying to catch up on email while scrubbing down! If I get to the point where I feel the need to shower with this device I think I'll need to reevaluate my life.
I know some folks just leave their watch on all time, which is fine, but it's not for me. I'll take it off before I jump in the shower.
I'm sure mine will it's fair share of water from washing my hands, rain etc.
Honestly. I don't understand people that sleep or shower with a watch on. Let your skin breath a little. And let the watch stay away from your sweat a little. Even tho as soon as I get home I take my watch off. I still have to clean underneath the watch once a month. I can't imagine the people that wear the watch 24/7. It's disgusting.
Some of us wear fitness watches, like my Fitbit Surge. I can promise you, my hygiene & my watch's condition are superb. [emoji4]

Wife just took a shower with hers and had a full business phone call while in there, it was pretty funny...and apparently the people on the other end had no idea (there were no audible indications that water was hitting the device while she was using it).
I'm sure some people's hygiene are good. But we all know there are some out there that are careless. I got couple of co-workers that only shower twice a week. Maybe 3 during summer time. Smh
Twice a week? I would be a greasy, oily mess. That's pretty gross.
No, wouldn't wear one in the shower, but I think there's no technical reason not to. Tests have shown that it works fine after an extended dousing. I just prefer to get clean, and having a metal band on my wrist gets in the way.

I have several watches that are "water resistant", and yet, I do not wear them in the shower. Neither will I wear my Watch Sport in the shower. It's just not what I do.
My now "formal" watch (pre apple watch was my everyday one) is waterproof, but has a white leather band. So I'm used to the whole not wearing a watch in the shower thing. Even though I have AppleCare +, don't want to risk it...
Already such a change for me. I wore a pebble watch for about 1.5 years. I wore it while I slept and in the shower. I now miss both knowing the time and any emails, calls or notifications. Might wear a gen 2 apple watch in the shower but not this one.
I'd much rather put it on the charger while I shower
I wear mine in the shower. I'm use to wearing a g shock watch for the last few years since I'm always working on something at the house when I'm off. So when I clean myself off I can clean my watch off. Same goes for my apple watch. That's why I bought apple care for my watch. So I can rest easy when me and the watch are doing dirty work

I will avoid it. Seeing the videos of it sitting in a 1.5m deep pool for 15 minutes, give me more confidence. But they also only checked the operation of the watch quickly - who knows if over time, the watch seeps into the S1 SOC, and causes other issues. I am happy to know incidental run ins with water will not ruin it, so if I'm out in the rain, then meh, whatever. No way I'm wearing it to swim or in the ocean, either. I don't want that tan line on my arm either. :-)
Stopped wearing watches in 8th grade when Fossil went out of style. Picked up a fitbit to track my runs and I showered with it. "Upgraded" to the Nike Fuelband, showered with it every now and then.
Now that I have the Apple Watch there's no chance I'll shower with it this time around. I won't risk accidental water damage that may not be covered by Apple Care.
I showered with it last night. No issues here. It was a one-off, but I figured I'd give it a shot, since the warranty covers condensation and whatnot
I have worn a fitbit flex day and night for a year. I never slept with or showered with a watch, just the flex. I believe I will return to not sleeping with or showering with the apple watch. It arrives today!
Don't have any reason to shower with it. If I did, I would! :)

I'm in the habit of taking my watch off the minute I get home. Or, if I'm running, taking off my Fitbit. So I don't think it's going to be an issue.
Glad to hear they hold up in the shower. Gonna keep removing my watch & glasses before showering [emoji317]

I think that is great advice. :gold-star:
Practically speaking, it seems I will be taking it off at night to charge. My morning routine, I get up and head straight to the shower, so I won't be putting it on right away. No worries.
I have the stainless steal with the black sports band and I've showered with it every single day and it still works perfectly.
You, sir, are a braver man than I am.
So how do you wash the part of the skin that the watch covers?...[emoji102]
I've showered with mine a couple of times.
Like I've stated before, I've worn a watch almost every day of my life starting at around 8 years old or so and I've never gotten into the habit of showering while wearing a watch. I'm definitely not going to start with my Watch....lol
I stopped wearing a watch about 7 years ago but it was waterproof so I just never took it off. And I already feel "more naked" when I'm not wearing it. I almost think I could get 2 days of battery life out of it. I have 57% left. But I won't take that chance and will charge it overnight.
Why would one do such a thing? I always shower with my phone, glasses, watch, shirt, jeans, jacket, and my Pomeranian.
Isn't that the only way jeans are supposed to be cleaned? [emoji3] I like good old fashioned laundry detergent myself though.
Probably. I like laundry detergent too, that's why I use it in place of shampoo! :p
Accidentally showered with my sport once already because I'm used to never taking off my pebble.
