Using Apple TV Gen 4 model A1625 tvOS 12.1.2, purchased Oct last year and basic iPad 128GB a couple of years old (model A1567 firmware 7.32.00).
Today I was in the Apple store and their set was able to see the image simultaneously on the iPad as well as the TV when Airplay activated. On my set-up, video only on TV, not iPad (using You Tube clips). All updates up to date.
Also can't get the remote volume to work the Apple TV. Can get remote to move cursor, select, pause/play but no volume in any mode. No circular volume indicator on screen as per what I saw in the store today.
