I can?t install iTunes on Windows 8.1

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8 home 64 bits, I guess.

There are various things that simply don't seem to work on this computer that I used a lot on the previous one including iTunes.

According to the Apple Website the latest version of iTunes (12.3.3 -64 bit version) does work in Windows 8.1. So I downloaded the file ?iTunes6464Setup? available from Apple website. Whenever I try to install it, however, a message pops up "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher" across my monitor. No further information is provided. That`s all I get.
I?ve logged on as an administrator, disable antivirus (Norton) and Firewall. Right-click on this installer file shows users correctly (System account, my Login name and so on) under Properties tab. No clues about what?s wrong here. This is a new desktop computer (ASUS VM62) and trying to install iTunes the first time. Any help would be appreciated. George.
