If you swapped the band positions after rotating the Watch, wouldn't fastening the bands be no different than before?

That's correct! Fastening the band is the same as before - at least it was for me when I opted to wear my Watch with the Digital Crown facing left. It wasn't for me so I switched it back.

It should be the same but they weren't locking. I'll try again.
