The iPhone getting RCS seems huge, but it won't fix the green bubble problem and that might be the point

"It's bringing Android's answer to iMessage to the iPhone,". It is not. It is bringing the GSMA replacement for SMS to iPhone. That GSMA replacement is not yet universal, and what is on most Android phones, under Google Messaging is not GSMA RCS.

I find it comical that a large majority blame Apple for this. Which platform offered an encrypted alternative to SMS first? Apple, well over a decade ago. Suddenly Google embraces RCS and it's all Apple's fault.

It will be hilarious and ironic if Apple adopting gsma rcs will force google to abandon their version.

Google wants this because they want to read your messages. There's a reason that RCS messaging isn't end to end encrypted. Because google wants to cull you messages in order to send you relevant ads via text. iMessage is an actual secure end to end encrypted protocol.

Could be, but Apple is not adopting googles version of rcs.
