3G gets better battery life... LTE uses more power, not sure as to how much but it uses more... If he were to use 3G all the time is would be even better, but speeds would suck... I have a feeling 3G is the new EDGE...lol
Not necessarily, LTE used to use more power. Now with more tweaking and smaller lithography the techs should be pretty dang close. Is there a test out there that is honest AND recent?
One thing to consider is that a 3G connection requires the modem to be processing the same amount of data for a longer amount of time. Side effects of that is additional 'wait time' that is responsible for additional screen on time and app power draw. An LTE modem can process data and return to low power state far faster. Side effect of that is greater processor usage. This is my theory that I have derived from common sense and technical articles. Does anyone have links to tests as this is pretty neat stuff about the dynamics of battery life.
Next year or 2 we could see LTE using less power then wifi chips.
