First ipad was announced january 27, so we're not that far off from that year mark but it still has me wondering. The leaks have been scarce and no real solid info is out there like prior to the first gen release. Hmmm...verizon iphone get in the way?

It was announced this early last year becuase it was new. New iPhone's are only announced about 10 before pre-orders start.
