When you delete photos they go to a "deleted" folder within photos. They then get purged every 30 days, so anything deleted 30 days ago will get purged. Then photos deleted 25 days ago get deleted in another 5 days, etc.

Have you checked there? Otherwise they're gone, unless you have a backup that might have those photos in them? You may also want to consider another backup service. I use the Photo Upload feature of the dropbox app to backup photos that we take just in case.

Unless you've backed them up using a cloud storage app (i.e. Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon Prime Photos, etc.) there's probably no hope in getting them back. You can check another iOS/OSX device and see if the photos are there, but it's a long shot. You can also try logging into your iCloud account by going to www.icloud.com using a web browser. Again, there's a good chance they're already gone.

Interesting question.

@ Rob : isn't it possible to use a recovery tool like on ordinary computer and see if you can recover something this way?

You can restore your photos from iTunes or iCloud backup files for free if you have done backups via iTunes or iCloud in advance.
Method 1. Restore from iTunes Backup.
Launch iTunes and connect iPhone to it, then go to "File" > "Devices" > "Restore from backup".
Method 2. Restore from iCloud Backup.
Reset your iPhone via "Settings" > "Reset" > "Erase all contents and settings". It will prompt you whether to restore data from iCloud.
