Paste something into the iPad Notes app

iMore Question

I copied an image/text from another app. How do I paste it into the iPad's default Notes app? I've tried pressing and holding anywhere on my note, but all I get is a popup that says "Copy | Look Up". Where is the paste?

(BTW Apple, what's this "Look Up" thing? Did you mean "Lookup?")

You only need to tap lightly anywhere on the Notes page and you will see the option to Paste.
Look up means search for the definition.

Apparently the text/photo you wanted to copy hasn’t been copied or isn’t eligible to be pasted in that matter in the notes app.

Try again or save that image first and copy it from the photos app to paste it in the notes app.

I have just done that on my iPad gen 5 and it works perfectly well on that. I will try on my gen 3 and see what it does.

Yep I have images in lots of my notes.

If you have Shortcuts installed you can easily write a script to get contents of the clipboard and show them so you can verify it’s been copied.

This also works with my gen 3 photos and text, maybe it is your procedure, if you have hit "copy" then it should "paste".
