But I've seen complainers here and elsewhere questioning text messaging, so I guess I mistakenly equated the two...man, I'm losing it...

Hmph! From what I understand the iPhone has TWO IM clients and the iPhone itself hasn't even been released yet. They were complaining about IM. The IPhone has no IM client, like AIM or MSN Messenger etc.

You are not talking about those pathetic web pages, are you?

Yes, I am talking about web content. And don't use that lame excuse of needing to have access to service because that doesn't hold, as you well know.

Every phone being manufactured now has either GPS or other location aware services. This includes the iPhone. It is already there.Cool stuff. Impressive interface. Apple sure knows how to make it purty.
But, I'm waiting for the second version of iPhone.
Put in EAS and HSPDA and maybe even GPS - it will dominate. GPS might not make it into revision #2, but the other two are likely candidates.

That's correct. My understanding is this is for 911 emergency only and not accessible otherwise. I doubt if it was accessible Apple would have ignored it.
(source)I asked about GPS and Pat said that there wasn't GPS on the phone at this point.
