jailbreak iphone with apps

Ive searched this forum and loads of others and there lots of different info.
Im going to jailbreak my 3.0.1 3gs.

I have loads of apple store apps I want do I have to do a restore to orignal factory settings/clean firmware.
If I do, do i then do the jailbreak and last of all restore the apps.
Restoring a backup in itunes wont remove the jailbreak?? or do i need to add the phone as a new device in itunes and get it to sync the apps that way.

Well... I never restored, I just jailbroke the phone. Kept everything in tact. I do suggest doing a back up first though.

No doing a restore wont remove the Jailbreak, have done it lots of times. You don't need to wipe the phone to default settings because the Jailbreak will do that, hence why you have to restore.
