All that may be. But many users choose the SE, because they want the home button. Make all those changes and add Face ID, then it's no longer an SE. It becomes a slightly larger Mini.

That’s my sense of it too. It is for the crowd that likes the way it was. FingerprintID on a physical home button. Nevertheless I think it will be gone for SE4. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they put FaceID with dynamic island on it. Dynamic Island adoption is a benefit to Apple.

I don’t know. I think they’ll reserve Di for their higher end models…to help give customers a desire to buy those.

That definitely may be true. What I saw was DI allows an internal design change which benefits the iphone build cost. How true that is I can’t be certain but if it is then any iPhone that is edge to edge screen will have DI. Presumably (?) the SE will be edge to edge.
Imho SE’s lower camera feature set, lower display quality/resolution, lower speaker quality already sets it apart. I think it should get the year before SOC too. That should be enough of a cost reducer while keeping it a good iPhone. (Imho all iPhone 15s should have pro motion)
