I have dots on dates with no entries, what's up ?

Iphone calendar, I have dots indicating I have event on given days with no entry when I check. What is causing this ? I have an Ipad with no issues along with my work Lotus notes - all connected. Everything is set up consistantly.

Are they holidays? If you have the holiday calendar selected, a dot will display in each holiday.
