How to sync Gmail contacts on my iPhone?

After entering my correct information in the given fields of 'Add CardDAV account', it gives me an error message "CardDAV account verification failed". What's going on? Any help?

Assuming you have iOS `10 installed, can you not just use the Add Account option in the Mail settings, and then enable the toggle next to "Contacts" in the Gmail section of the Mail settings?

I thought Google disabled CardDAV access on iPhone a few years ago. I could be wrong. Either way, try what @Just_Me_D suggested.
