getting music into new folder?

I want to make a new folder in iTunes for my iPhone to listening to while I work out. I have lots of songs on my phone but not all are right for when I do my work out. I made the new folder but when I try to drag a song (that has a check mark next to it) it shows a red circle with a line through it and it take it.

I know I can put a check mark next to all the songs I want on my phone and when it syncs they are there but how do I get specific songs into a certain folder?

I did make a playlist and it shows up but I can't get any music into it.

I'm sorry Peligro911........I thought I had made a playlist when I had made a folder instead...once I made the playlist it worked just fine to copy music to it............thanks for telling me to make the playlist.....that made me double check and that's when I saw my mistake.
