entering password for updates and free apps

Wasn't iOS 6 supposed to remove the requirement to enter our password for updates and free app downloads? Mine still requires it.

Go to Settings>> iTunes & App Store>> and input your AppleID & Password if you haven't done that.

I was already signed in, but I logged out and back in with no success. Still had to enter my password to update an app.

Like other people, I do NOT have to enter a password to update an app. Only to install a new one. Try removing the recently used apps (I don't mean uninstall them) and then reboot your device to see if that helps.

i do not have to enter a password to update either. I only have to enter one to install apps.

Check to make sure you don't have restrictions enabled under the general tab

Restrictions are enable but app downloads are allowed

It is time for you to reset and restore as new via iTunes, in my opinion.
