This morning, I discovered the data loading icon (Next to the wifi logo) continuously going in circles when on the homescreen in idol whether I'm using wifi or LTE. This never happens and I cannot find the cause of it either. Even closing all apps doesn't help

Used to happen to me until I updated to iOS 8 beta 1. Try a reboot and then a restore.

Could be your email account on a loop go to settings and change them all from Push to Manual and see if that stops it. If it does change them back one by one till you find the culprit

This happens to me when I try to download an app, and cancel it immediately. Just do a reboot, and everything should be fine.

Do a reboot- turn the phone off and then back on again. It goes away, it's what I do and it is no big deal.

Because something could be eating up his data.

I restored the device and the issue was gone.
