I have nothing from the Apple ecosystem, so this wouldn't really be useful to me, but he's got an iPhone and an iMac, and a lonely TV set. First thing will be checking out the new Apple Music app to set the mood, and then ceremoniously disconnecting my Roku and Amazon Fire TV Stick.

First thing will be to try out Siri (universal search), ask her to look for a show, any show. I want to see how it will let me choose the source. Afterwards I want to play around with the controller: pause, ask for subtitles, that sort of thing.
