Cannot connect to apple store on iMac

I have a few update notifications for my iMac but can't access the store at all.

Every time I open the app store, it is all greyed out and just says 'Cannot connect to the store. An internet connection is required.'

The wifi connection is strong and my laptop works fine.

Its running on macOS High Sierra version 10.13.5 at the moment.

Reboot your iMac, your Wi-Fi router and your modem, if applicable. Afterwards, make sure the iMac can connect to the internet. If you have a firewall, make sure that it is allowing access to the internet.

Your iMac may be connected to your router, but your router/ISP may be having issues, or the App Store itself may be having problems.
@Just_Me_D hit the nail on the head above.
