Are notifications on Iwatch physical or virtual

I am often away from my phone--it's in one room and I'm in another, I'm upstairs, it's downstairs. Can the iWatch alert me to a meeting or appointment, a phone call or text the way my phone would if I owned anything with pockets.

The Watch can be set up to do that, yes. With regards to text messages, the Watch has "canned" replies that you can modify, as well as the ability to do the dictation texting the way the iPhone can.
