Anyone have knowledge of how to avoid backup corruption?

I jailbroke ios 7.1.1 using pangu. I did it on ipad and iphone 5S.

Restored ipad last week and had to treat as new because backups were corrupt. with IOS 8 coming out this week was contemplating unjailbreaking but am concerned backups on phone being corrupt too.

Anyone have knowledge of how to avoid backup corruption? Otherwise I know that jailbreak means assuming risk which Im okay with, having to resort to new, but would prefer not...

How to avoid corrupted backups? I don't know, but I always recommend making both an iTunes and an iCloud backup just in case.
