$20 Activation fee for 9.7" iPad Pro?

There is a chance that I'll get the 9.7" iPad Pro 128 GB Wifi and Cellular Space Gray. If I do get it, I'll buy it at the  Store and pay full retail price for it. Then after it's all restored from iCloud backup and all settings and data is transferred and set up, I'll add it onto my current AT&T plan.

The question I have is this: will AT&T still apply the $20 activation fee for adding the iPad onto my plan? If they do then I won't get the iPad.

Yes they will. The fee is for activation of service, not the purchase of a device.

After talking with an AT&T Store sales rep today, it turns out that the activation fee is $25, not $20.
