iMessages signed out?

I’m 16.4 was that the last one before the new one? I’m reluctant to be the first out anymore in case of issues.

iOS 17.0 was released in September 2023, and 17.4 contains changes to the iMessage protocol.

It might be worth trying an update to 17.4.

The caveat: You cannot roll back to iOS 16.4 once upgraded, because Apple doesn’t provide the necessary signature for it to install.

FWIW, that doesn't change the ability to authorize and use iMessage for older versions. It just changes the encryption protocol for messages sent to and received from other devices running iOS/iPadOS 17.4 or later, MacOS 14.4 or later, and watchOS 10.4 or later. Messages sent from and to older devices will continue to use the existing encryption protocol.

And turn off Find My Phone?

It may be that you need to do that to sign out of iCloud - I can't recall. But, sure, it won't hurt, and then turn it right back on.

It was revealed at the same time that some other changes were made in prior versions. I wouldn’t even be surprised if older versions of iOS were blocked because of Beeper Mini.

What’s this about?

It means the items therein will no longer be “on your iPhone”, but still be available in the cloud. In other words, if you proceed and then want find you want that info to sync back to your iPhone then toggle each item back on.
