Any idea how much memory a good timelapse will use

I'm going to assume you mean storage not memory? If so, the feature is very efficient with frame capture and storage so it shouldn't use an over abundance of it. A 40 minute video take in time-lapse mode for instance would result in a 20 second long video at 30 frames per second.
