I know that I was taken in by the Palm hype with the 650 and 680 and I paid $500 for at least one of them. The 650 offered little over the 600 - which in Palm's defense was a great phone compared to the 300. The 680, again, offered little (yes it came in colors and the antenna was chopped off)...

Even if Apple releases a half baked iPhone it'll still blow away the current Palm (is that their name today?) offerings. If anyone is release half baked crap it's Palm - what do we pay for a new color, couple more Mbs and the removal of an antenna? Whose are the real suckers here? Dunc

I agree that the iPhone will sell well. But I disagree that it will go the way of the Newton. The Newton, although not a success, was years ahead of its time. People are all about convergence these days. PDAs are the norm. This will be a huge success. Dunc

No doubt Palm will ship an incremental Treo upgrade with a few more MBs and maybe a new color or too, but definitely half the battery life of the 650. Dunc

It was a good commercial - didn't know what it was until the end, peaked and held my attention. When it finally appeared I was like 'Oh Yeah!'

The first batch shipped to developers this week. The next batch, for sale to enthusiasts, is scheduled to ship at the end of the month! Personally, I can't wait.
