    treo switchers

I know that Chattermail was bought by Palm - I hope that Marc made out like a bandit! He should have, Chattermail is / was by far the best mail app for the Treo. He's come out of retirement before. I hope that he'll stumble across an iPhone at some point and be inspired to do it again. Dunc

    treo switchers

I had a 300, 600, 650 and an Arctic 680. By the time the iPhone surfaced I was pretty disappointed with Palm as a whole. The iPhone is a wonderful device. I used to dread (and avoid at all costs) using Blazer to find anything on the net. But I love using Safari on the iPhone - surfing is a...

    Business Users?

There's no question, the iPhone is sweet! There's also no question that Palm is in trouble - not like they didn't see this coming though. Anyways, I have 1 of my 2 iPhones activated. The first activation was painless, the 2nd one is on a business account. Does anyone know of any way that it...

5 reasons not to get iPhone

I know that I was taken in by the Palm hype with the 650 and 680 and I paid $500 for at least one of them. The 650 offered little over the 600 - which in Palm's defense was a great phone compared to the 300. The 680, again, offered little (yes it came in colors and the antenna was chopped off)...

Is the iPhone an unfinished product?

Even if Apple releases a half baked iPhone it'll still blow away the current Palm (is that their name today?) offerings. If anyone is release half baked crap it's Palm - what do we pay for a new color, couple more Mbs and the removal of an antenna? Whose are the real suckers here? Dunc

    iPhone delayed to October?

I agree that the iPhone will sell well. But I disagree that it will go the way of the Newton. The Newton, although not a success, was years ahead of its time. People are all about convergence these days. PDAs are the norm. This will be a huge success. Dunc

First 3rd-party app for iphone at apple.com

We can only imagine that it will be better then the battery life of the 680!

First 3rd-party app for iphone at apple.com

Jobs said "they recognize the importance of 3rd party apps for business users, and a final decision hasn't been made yet". I've said it since the beginning, they have to allow 3rd party apps. And when they do, what will Palm do? Wait I know! A couple new colors, 32 Mb more and half the...

I just saw an iPhone commercial!

You think they'll have a hard time? The 680's battery life sucks and everyone seems to be fine with that. Why should we treat Apple any differently? Dunc

    I phone revealed... Im sold!

No doubt Palm will ship an incremental Treo upgrade with a few more MBs and maybe a new color or too, but definitely half the battery life of the 650. Dunc

    Iphone...yea right!!! (neo1973)

You're right, enthusiasts was a poor choice of words. Officially, it's developers and hackers. Unofficially, it's anyone with $350. Dunc

I just saw an iPhone commercial!

It was a good commercial - didn't know what it was until the end, peaked and held my attention. When it finally appeared I was like 'Oh Yeah!'

    Iphone...yea right!!! (neo1973)

The first batch shipped to developers this week. The next batch, for sale to enthusiasts, is scheduled to ship at the end of the month! Personally, I can't wait.

    Rumors: Leopard Top Secret Features

I don't know Marc. But I do know that "these times they are a changing". I think Palm gave us too little too late, and unless they have something revolutionary up their sleeves they have something worry about. I'd love to see Chatter running on either the iPhone or Openmoko. Aren't you just...

    iPHone Competitors already?

Even if they were run away successes they won't sell as much as Apple will - they don't have any brand recognition, have no sales or marketing channels in place. Still, they could both easily compete on a functional level. It'll be interesting, to say the least. I'm sure Palm hopes they don't...

    Whos getting an iPhone?

Yeah, I watched the press conference and was sold. Would have bought one right then and there - fortuntely Steve gave me a couple of months to collect my thoughts. I can't do a phone with no 3rd party apps - no way! I still think they'll come around and concede that point, but in the mean...

    iPHone Competitors already?

The screen is smaller then the iPhone (2.8" vs 3.5"), but it's running 640x480 vga. As for price, the iPhone is looking like $499 for the small one with a 2 year Cingular contract. Openmoko is claiming their phone will ship for $350 - with no contract, and all the 3rd party apps you want to...

    iPHone Competitors already?

Prada looks to be scheduled to hit the shelves around the same time as OpenMoko. The fact that OpenMoko is truly opensource, and can essentially run any X11 app (in my mind) gives it a leg up on both Prada and iPhone.
