Jailbreak or Update and Jailbreak

Hey guys I'm new to this forum and I need some advice, my iPhone currently is on firmware 6.1(10B144) I have jailbreaked my iPod a couple of times a year ago but the iPod no longer works.
I was wondering whether to jailbreak on the firmware I currently have or update to a specific firmware and then jailbreak it Untethered. What do you guys think?

Jailbreak on your current firmware version 6.1 cause the newest firmware 6.1.3 (6.1.4 for iPhone 5) is not jailbreakable

Just stay at your current firmware and jailbreak.
