Do you need to change root password if not doing SSH?

I decided to take the plunge today and jailbreak. So far, so good.

I did do my research beforehand and read that you should change your root password but am confused about something.

I have no need to tinker with SSH right now but through Googling, I can't find any mention of if you have to change root password if not working with SSH such as OpenSSH.

Should I still change the root password or only when I install something like OpenSSH.

Sorry if it's a elementary question.

You only really need to change it if you install OpenSSH, and even then it's only really a security risk IF you leave it running after you disconnect from your own computer.

I am also wondering the same thing. Other sites keep saying to change the root and wireless password now! I don't know is it really necessary to go through that if someone doesn't install OpenSSH? I have heard doing so caused problems for some?
