Jailbreak/Unlock iphone 3g from 4.1

Anyone know how to jailbreak or unlock the 3g from 4.1 yet? I did something stupid and I downloaded the new 4.1 and it locked my phone, anyone have any suggestions of what I can do or should do?

if u were jailbroken you can downgrade back if you clicked make my life easier when you set up cydia.

my wife just got a 4 and i did a complete delete of her 3g and had to do the same thing.

I am new to the idea of jailbreaking...had a iP3 prior to having my current iP4. Since I downloaded the new 4.1 software, I can't jailbreak until an update comes out to jailbreak the newest software, correct? If that makes any sense.

Unless you had a earlier version of ios on that device and saved your shsh blobs that were signed by apple no you have to wait for the 4.1 jailbreak release.

If you're using a 3G, you don't need to have SHSHs saved. That's only for the 3GS and above. The 3G you can just restore to a custom firmware, then jailbreak. Have a look at the chart here for some ideas:

It's because Apple only started using ECID authentication with the 3GS model. You can read more about it here:

Slightly off topic: how does that 3G do on 4.1? Is it as slow as 4.0? The wife is still on 3.1.3, and has been asking me to upgrade it for her. I resisted after hearing how bad 4.0 ran. Thanks!

I have a 3G, was JB'ed with 4.0.1, and hated it. My iPhone was barely usable, with all the freezes and crashes. I upgraded to 4.1, and though I miss my jailbreak (for now), I am *much* happier. I will re-JB when I can, but with 4.1 I'm enjoying actually using my phone again.
