Late or not, for what it's worth, Giz is showing a letter "from Apple" offically requesting the unit back, which makes it about 99.99999% sure to be one of a future generation of Apple device.
Moot point I know, but still.

Wow, I was hoping it was just a typo. I believe the device belongs to Apple. We'll have to wait to see if that is indeed the finalized design.
