Question regarding Backgrounder

Ill probably kick myself for asking but I wont have piece of mind if I dont:

When NOT utilizing Backgrounder, does it still use battery life? As in, not enabling it for an app. Only when its active (say using it for Pandora) does it use up power, correct?

Im thinking this is correct, but need to be sure. I dont want to suddenly see my phone at 0% after a few hours of it being on, especially when Im not using it like on Pandora or something.

It doenst use any battery if it's not in use.
