3G jail breaking questions...need strait up answers

ok
i want to jailbreak my iphone 3G with 2.2 software, but im a bit scared

i looked in FAQ's, and could not find a strait answer to this.....
is it illegal to jailbrake the iphone, or is there anything that could be considered illegal?

also, is there any other risks im taking when jailbreaking my iphone?

i would just love to have some one clear this 2 things up for me

No. It is NOT illegal. However, it "voids" your warranty. But a simple restore puts the phone back to factory software, so as long as you don't bring your jailbroken phone to Apple, they'll never know. If you need to take it to Apple for whatever reason, just restore it first.
