Can you save your iTunes media on an external hard drive instead of on the internal storage of your Mac/PC? My Mac has very little storage :(

Yes you can store your iTunes media on an external drive instead of your internal drive.

Go to iTunes > preferences > advanced and from there it will allow you to change the location of your iTunes media folder.

You can also leave the media where it is and keep your iTunes library on the default drive. Just go to Preferences > Advanced and uncheck the two boxes as indicated. iTunes will still catalog the media, but won’t move it to the iTunes Media folder on your default drive.

I have over 9,000 songs, about 250 television shows and over 450 movies available through iTunes on my Mac Mini for streaming through the house to Apple TVs and iPads. Everything is stored on a network attached drive.
